Prerequisites

Hold a level 6 title or diploma (bac+3/bac+4 i.e.: license, bachelor...).

As an exception, candidates who do not have these prerequisites, but who have a professional experience of at least two years, may be admitted to the selection process for entry into the training system.

The mission of the French Hotel Institute (IFH) is to train the next generation of hospitality leaders, resolutely focused on the future and internationally.

Becoming a leader

To train managers combining field knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit, the Master in Business and Hospitality (MBH) is based on three educational pillars:

  • Action-oriented business training : Entrepreneurial projects in autonomy and in groups (e.g.: Food Truck, ephemeral restaurant), consulting mission for our partner companies, Business Games, case studies in real conditions
  • An apprenticeship through the practice of hotel know-how : intensive internship at the Château, workshops in our educational kitchens, service training at our partner hotels, the importance of work-study programs
  • Constant attention to the key skills of the luxury world : posture and language, rules of decency, general knowledge, high-end codes

The hospitality sector offers fantastic international career opportunities in a context of French know-how recognized around the world. The Institut Français de l'Hôtelage is resolutely focused on the world, and must allow its students to discover it. IFH's work-study programs have been designed to allow students to work internationally for periods of up to 6 months.

Learning to create

IFH supports its students in their professional ambitions, as collaborators of large groups, but also as entrepreneurs. Dedicated course modules, collective creative projects, an incubator and the identification of a mentor allow this.From the second year, students confront entrepreneurship and are invited to carry out from A to Z a hospitality or F&B project of their choice (Food Truck, Pop-up Restaurant, Pop-up Store, DNVStore, Pop-up Store, DNVStore, etc.). How to apply to the French Hotel Institute?

All you have to do is send a CV and the transcripts of Première, Terminale and Bac de Français via the Application portal.

Is it a disadvantage to have no experience in hotel/restaurant/luxury?

It is not a disadvantage. All applications are studied in depth by the admission team on the basis of multiple factors (grades, evaluations, extra-curricular activities and the motivations presented during the admission interview).

Are there specializations to focus on in high school to join IFH?

IFH Bachelor programs are open to all high school students, regardless of the field (general, technological, professional), and regardless of the specialisations/options chosen in Premier/Terminale.

Does IFH offer work-study programs to its students?

Yes, IFH has a vast network of partners in France and abroad that it makes available to its students. IFH also has exclusive work/internship offers, reserved for the school's students.

Does IFH offer support to find an apprenticeship or an internship?

Of course! IFH pays particular attention to the professional opportunities of its students. They benefit from personalized support in three stages: orientation, coaching, and networking with partner companies.

How does admission to the French Hotel Institute take place?

The selection is carried out in two phases:
i. Eligibility phase: study of the file (newsletters and CV)
ii. Admission phase (for candidates declared eligible): written test (writing and logical skills) and oral test (motivation, quality of the professional project, oral fluency).

What is prioritized in the evaluation of the file to join the IFH?

The admissions team focuses on two areas of assessment: the quality of the professional project and the motivation of the candidate.

When are eligibility results (and, if applicable, admission results) published?

The IFH process is done on a “rolling” basis: once the file is submitted, it will be examined by the admission team within 3 weeks. In case of eligibility, slots for the admission exams are offered. After these, the candidate receives an admission response within 2 to 3 weeks.

What are the opportunities for IFH?

IFH courses give access to all professions in the hotel and catering industry (hotel manager, restaurant manager, etc.) but also to luxury professions (event, marketing or sales manager in major fashion/wine/spirits houses) and to business jobs in the broad sense (financial analyst, entrepreneur, etc.)

What is the cost of tuition at IFH?

Does IFH offer scholarships?

Yes, IFH offers three types of grants (cumulative):
i. Up to €5,000 in “early birds” bursary for the first time enrolled at school
ii. Up to €5,000 in merit grants, based on the results of the IFH selection test
iii. Up to €5,000 in bursary linked to household income

What are the language requirements?

All programs are taught in English, so no prior French knowledge is required. However, IFH has developed partnerships with leading language schools to offer French courses, helping international students adapt both culturally and professionally.

Is accommodation available for international students?

Yes. IFH has developed partnerships with two student residences in Paris and assists you in finding housing options suited to your needs and budget.

How does IFH help international students integrate?

IFH offers a dedicated international student integration service, with support on daily life in France (banking, healthcare, transport), welcome days, and mentorship programs to connect you with peers and mentors.
